In what situations can I use CIMARA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution services?

CIMARA is competent to resolve consumer disputes:

  1. That originate from the acquisition of goods or provision of services occurring in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
  2. Arising from the acquisition of goods, the provision of services or the transfer of any rights intended for non-professional use and provided:
    • By an individual or legal entity, professionally carrying out economic activity aimed at obtaining benefits
    • By Public Administration bodies, public legal entities, companies with public capital or majority-owned by the State, autonomous regions or local authorities
    • By companies providing essential public services
  3. The value of which does not exceed 30.000,00€

So, for example: even if you live in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, if you made a purchase in a physical store in Porto, you will have to go to the Porto arbitration center. If an online purchase is in question, the competent arbitration center is the one in the consumer’s area of ​​residence, that is, if you reside in the Autonomous Region of the Azores and made an online purchase from a store in Lisbon, CIMARA will be the your responsible arbitration center.
